Airplanes were maybe the most efficient invention of the 20th century. With airplanes, distances, which used to take weeks, months to be traversed, can be crossed with just one single day sometimes. Besides, airplanes took people to islands and places never imagined before.
But it is not only rainbows and butterflies. Airplanes are controlled by airlines companies. And since they have become a sign of wealth. It is not everybody that can afford an airline ticket. It has become a privilege of few people. And this situation is even more delicate if we are talking about international flights.
There are hundreds of airlines companies around the world. These companies generate a circulation of billions of dollar every year. Among profits and losses, these companies employ thousands of people in their staff.
However, in spite of this, since 2001, after the attacks to the World Trade Center and to the Pentagon in the USA, the number of people who take airplanes for their trips have decreased. The fear of being hijacked is common among people who use airplanes to travel.
But even with all these setbacks, airlines companies are a huge market of leisure. In order to make things easier for their passengers, the airlines companies have now associations with hotels, amusement and theme parks, rental car stores. All of these facilitate the trip of thousands of people. Besides, it creates another complex: the commercial complex of tourism and leisure.
Airlines companies promote these associations with amusement parks, hotels and rental car stores - without mentioning others associations - in order to provide discounts for their passengers. But of course the companies have their profits. It is a business where everybody wins: the companies win passengers, the parks, stores an hotels win clients and visitors and the passengers win facility and discounts.
